Established for over 40 years the company is headquartered in Durham, UK and is a leading global supply chain and logistics solutions provider, implementing warehouse management software for many reputable companies worldwide. In line with Indigo’s expansion programme, we have an opening for an experienced New Business Development Executive.

Role & Responsibilities

This role is primarily Durham office-based, with a necessity to visit new prospects, as required.

You will, from time to time, be asked to attend various events and exhibitions. These may take place across multiple days and will cover both elements of the role.

Initially, this is a split role. The primary focus of the role will be selling into the smaller less complex new business WMS opportunities, whilst the secondary element to the role will be covering hardware sales (scanners, printers and accessories, etc).

On the WMS-side, your focus will be to initiate contact with pre-qualified leads and manage the sales cycle to closure, for Indigo’s newly launched Quickstart WMS solution.

You will already be an established software salesperson, but perhaps currently in a junior role and wanting to move onwards and upwards. However, putting the effort in to close deals will still be demonstrable.

You will be confident and able to build relationships quickly over the phone and Teams calls.

You will be provided with qualified leads, however you will be ambitious; hungry to sell and earn commission, so it’s likely that you will want to do your own research and/or use your contacts to generate new opportunities for yourself.

You will become a software expert and learn about how to configure and demonstrate the Indigo Quickstart WMS solution.

Over time, you may be asked to assist in opportunities within larger Enterprise and Corporate sales cycles as part of your learning curve to taking on a larger, more expansive sales role.

You will be expected to demonstrate your existing skills at selling, whether in New Business role or as an Account Manager.

Initially, the scope of your role will be UK, but this could be easily expanded to cover the whole of EMEA and the Americas, as time, targets and experience progresses.

On the hardware-side, your focus will be to assist the sales team in general with their hardware sales requirements.

You will become the Indigo hardware sales expert, knowing everything about pricing, specifications, features and availability for our existing hardware portfolio. You will also keep abreast of all future technologies within our supplier-base.

You will contribute to the maintenance of Indigo’s database of customer hardware, maintenance renewals and rental contracts, second user inventory, etc.

You will ensure the hardware pricing database is kept up to date.

You will take a lead in liaising with all interested and relevant departments, especially Indigo’s technical department to onboard new hardware, with new certifications, etc.

You will build and maintain relationships with Indigo’s supplier-base, to gain the best possible advantage for pricing and lead-times.


  • You will already know what the inside of a warehouse looks like, probably through visiting many in your current or previous role (essential). However, we would prefer if your Supply Chain experience is from a background in Warehouse or Logistics Management (desirable)
  • 3+ years of achieving against sales targets in either a new business sales role, a pre-sales role or as an Account Manager (essential)
  • Ability to communicate compelling ROI to prospects (essential)
  • You will be an excellent communicator, both orally and written, tailoring your pitch, dependent upon the role and level of the person you are engaged with (essential)
  • Proactive, self-starter with a results-oriented attitude (essential)
  • Commercially astute and highly numerate, you will be comfortable creating and manipulating Excel spreadsheets (essential)

Additional Information

Job Type: Full-time

Location: Durham office-based, with frequent UK travel

Reporting to: Director EMEA and America Sales

Salary: Base £30k, total OTE £65k
