NGK Spark Plugs Takes Control with Indigo

10 Mar 2005

Indigo Software Ltd, the supply chain management software specialist, today announced the successful implementation of its industry leading Interactive Warehousing application at NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd, a brand leader in the UK automotive spark plug market.

NGK Spark Plugs (UK) chose the application to streamline their warehouse operations and guarantee delivery performance targets would be consistently achieved. Indigos Interactive Warehousing solution also enables the move away from paper-based pick routines to a total paperless operation; ensures performance and accuracy at the picking face; reduces the amount of manual keying post picking; and provides full integration to the UPS Worldship System.

Steve King, Logistics Manager at NGK said: In todays competitive market, order responses are measured in a fraction of the time that they used to be, which places enormous pressure upon all areas of an organisations resources, in particular warehouse personnel, equipment, facilities and operations. We were looking for a way of improving accuracy whilst simultaneously optimising inventory levels and utilisation of warehouse space to ensure goods were at the right place at the right time.

To achieve this we chose Indigos Interactive Warehousing product to ensure efficient deployment of human and mechanical resources through the automation of task and activity management. This enables resources to be optimised, with the benefit of streamlining processing facilities and improving the accuracy of the picking and replenishment tasks.

The move to an automated and total paperless warehouse environment is always seen as a difficult step and such a demanding specification quickly narrows down the list of suppliers that are able to respond! Indigos Interactive Warehousing Solution combined with its years of expertise and implementation success has enabled NGK to reap the rewards of full warehouse automation and integration, continued Steve King.
