Indigo Software Welcomes GS1 UK Global Data Synchronisation data pool launch.

01 Mar 2005

Indigo Software, the supply chain management software specialist and member of GS1 UK (the new name for e-centre), welcomes the planned launch of the UK’s first Global Data Synchronisation (GDS) standards compliant data pool for the supply chain, facilitating collaborative commerce in multiple industries and business sectors. This follows the re-branding of e-Centre, the UK independent body responsible for promoting supply chain efficiency and standards, which was re-launched as GS1 UK in February 2005.

Simon Dadswell, Marketing Manager of Indigo Software said, “Indigo welcomes the GS1 UK planned GDS data pool launch as it offers a single point for all UK companies requiring worldwide data synchronisation with their existing and new customer base. Ensuring there is a single, standardised and internationally recognised repository for the worldwide supply chain to access clean, synchronised data is critical to the continued growth of truly efficient collaborative trading.

The role of GS1 will be to provide the platform of consistency that supply chain companies of all sizes can benefit from; it will enable accurate synchronisation of product information between trading partners and minimise errors and inaccurate data. Importantly GS1 will also drive and promote new product development in next generation services and technologies, such as RFID.”

About GS1 UK

GS1 UK deploys and supports GS1 standards within the UK. It is part of the worldwide GS1 network which develops global supply chain standards and solutions used by over one million companies for bar coding, electronic business messaging, data synchronisation and through the EPCglobal Network, radio frequency identification.

The launch of GS1 UK marked the introduction of a series of new products, services and solutions. The Global Data Synchronisation Network (GDSN), supported by the world’s top consumer packaged goods companies, creates synergy within the supply chain, making standards compliant country data pools possible. The EPCglobal Network combines RFID, the Internet, and the Electronic Product Code (EPC) to enable accurate, cost-efficient visibility of information in the supply chain.
