ebm-papst UK Ltd selects Indigo's RealTime for Infor ERP System21

Indigo Software Ltd, the supply chain software specialist, today announced that ebm-papst UK Ltd of Chelmsford has selected Indigos RealTime for Infor ERP System21 warehousing solution, for its UK national distribution centre, in a bid worth 100k.
Supplying to the OEM market, ebm-papst UK Ltd are the UK subsidiary for Europes largest motor and fan manufacturer. Nearly a century of fan development and manufacture is complemented by the biggest investment in leading edge technology found within the fan industry. The ebm-papst name has been synonymous with engineering excellence in the design of fans for over 50 years.
Following recent changes to European legislation, ebm-papst conducted an assessment of their existing systems, and concluded that their existing inventory system and location management system lacked the functionality required to meet the new standards and could not deliver the efficiencies necessary to maintain ebm-papsts customer demands.
An enforcement of European directives regarding ROHS (Restrictions On the use of Hazardous Substances in electronic equipment) and WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) has increased the importance of inventory control as a critical part of the supply chain process. With this is mind ebm-papst were keen to implement a warehouse management system (WMS) which would enable them to manage the process with a greater level of efficiency and control.
ebm-papst decided to go out to the open market in 2005, to source a new WMS which would provide them with the increased functionality required to meet new legalisation as well as the capability to fully integrate with Infor ERP System21.
As part of the selection process for a new WMS, ebm-papst invited Indigo to conduct a strategic business review of their processes. Indigo confirmed Interactive Warehousing, its fully paperless warehouse management application would meet the current and future requirements of the business.
Following ebm-papsts assessment Indigo’s solution was chosen over competitor products, with ebm-papst citing Indigos proven integration methodology, and ability to remove problematic interfaces as vital.

Solid proven integration with the existing ERP platform will place the WMS at the heart of the supply chain and ensure its critical role in the overall success of the business.”
Along with Interactive Warehousing & Purchase Goods Receiving ebm-papst have also purchased Intermec’s RDTs and associated wireless backbone infrastructure. Intermec’s proven hardware has been part of Indigos solutions for over 15 years.
Ray Ladyman, Operations Director at ebm-papst, commented “Indigo proved to us during the evaluation that RealTime for Infor ERP System21 was not only a state of the art Warehouse Management System, but has been developed not to integrate into Infor ERP System21, but as integral modules of Infor ERP System21, demonstrated by Infors adoption of RealTime as their WMS and Automation solution for Infor ERP System21. ebm-papst will be implementing RealTime during 2006 and are confident to recoup the investment in under 18 months”
