Evans Vanodine International selects Indigo's RealTime WMS

01 Jun 2008

Indigo Software Ltd, the supply chain software specialist, today announced that Evans Vanodine of Walton Summit (Preston) has selected Indigos RealTime for Infor ERP System21 warehousing solution, for its UK national manufacturing and distribution centre.

Supplying a wide range of products to the Janitorial and Livestock Protection market, Evans Vanodine has been operating for nearly a century, and now ships its products to over 60 countries worldwide

Evans Vanodine conducted an assessment of their existing systems, and concluded that their existing inventory location management system lacked the functionality required to meet the growing market demands for shorter order to despatch cycles.

Evans Vanodine made the decision during 2008, to source a new WMS which would provide them with the increased functionality required to meet the ever changing delivery profiles as well as the capability to fully integrate with Infor ERP Aurora.

As part of the selection process for a new WMS, Evans Vanodine invited Indigo to conduct a strategic business review of their processes. Indigo confirmed that it’s fully paperless Realtime WMS would meet the current and future requirements of the business.

Eric Carter, Management Consultant at Indigo, commented “The implementation of Interactive Warehousing at Evans Vanodine will place the WMS at the heart of the supply chain. The operations team have built a very healthy “on time, in full” record with their customers and Realtime will allow them to continue to grow their business whilst being able to respond better to the market demands being placed upon them.”

Anthony Evans, IT Director and Project Sponsor commented “We were looking for a partner that understood our business requirements, which includes shipping a very large range of similar chemical products to a large number of customers in many countries around the world. The need to ensure that the correct product, properly tested, properly labelled and in the correct containers, is shipped quickly and accurately is paramount to our company’s growth in the future. We believe that the investment in the RealTime WMS will provide that.”

Evans Vanodine will be implementing RealTime during the second half of 2008 and are confident to recoup the investment in under 18 months.”

Along with the Realtime suite of software Evans have also purchased Intermec’s latest Radio Data Terminals and associated wireless backbone infrastructure. Intermec’s proven hardware has been part of Indigos solutions for over 17 years.

About Evans Vanodine

Evans Vanodine was established in 1919 in Salford by Chemist, William Charles Evans, who initially specialised in developing and manufacturing soap and spraying essences, which were sold to cinemas, theatres and local industry in the North West of England.
The company relocated to Eccles in the 1940’s, where it became known as ‘Evans of Eccles’. Over the coming years it consolidated its position in the market place manufacturing a wide range of industrial hygiene chemicals. A change of name to Evans Vanodine International followed, reflecting the growing importance of both its agricultural hygiene chemicals and the business being obtained from overseas.

In March 1981 the company moved to Walton Summit just outside Preston. The company has since taken over further factory units on the industrial estate, so that now, nearly 90 years and 4 generations of the family after William Charles Evans founded the company, it now operates from a modern 100,000 square foot factory on a 5 acre site at Walton Summit.

Having successfully targeted two main areas for its business – hygiene chemicals for the cleaning industry and agricultural chemicals for livestock protection, Evans Vanodine International has now a diverse product range that varies from hand cleansers and high performance floor polishes to veterinary disinfectants and teat dips.

Commitment to quality and service is deep rooted in the Evans family tradition and this, together with the expertise of dedicated staff throughout the company will ensure continued success for Evans Vanodine International and their customers, in the coming years.
