DAMS International selects Indigo's RealTime WMS
15 Mar 2008

Indigo Software Ltd, the supply chain software specialist, today announced that DAMS International has selected Indigo’s RealTime for Infor ERP System21 warehousing solution, for its UK national distribution centre in Knowsley, Liverpool.
Supplying a wide range of products for over 40 years to the large, small and home office environments’ the DAMS International name has become synominous with quality and service.
DAMS International had been examining their whole business supply chain in great detail for many months and as part of this process concluded that their existing inventory location management system lacked the functionality and stability required to meet the ever changing order to despatch process.
The decision was made during late 2007, to source a new WMS which would provide them with the increased functionality required to meet the demands of the highly competitive market they are in.
As part of the selection process for a new WMS, DAMS invited Indigo to conduct a strategic business process review. Following on from this review Indigo proposed the use of its Realtime WMS suite of paperless warehouse management modules.
Indigo’s unique fully seamless integration with Infor ERP System21 was seen as a very desirable benefit
Eric Carter, Management Consultant at Indigo, commented “The implementation of Interactive Warehousing at DAMS will place the WMS at the heart of DAMS day to day decision making processes”.
“Things happen quickly in this industry and the individuals involved in all aspects of the supply chain rely on up to the minute information supplied by the WMS. The operations team have made significant changes to the supply chain in the last few years and the changes will be maximised allowing their healthy OTIF record to be maintained and improved upon.”
Sean Togher, Director and Project Sponsor commented “The selection of a world class WMS is vital to the growth of our business in the future. We needed a product that would help streamline all aspects of flow of products through our distribution network, allowing us to maintain our excellent levels of supply and service to our customer base throughout the whole of the UK, whilst still growing the business. Indigo’s Realtime WMS will allow us to do that!”
Along with the Realtime suite of software DAMS have also purchased Intermec’s latest Radio Data Terminals and associated wireless backbone infrastructure. Intermec’s proven hardware has been part of Indigos solutions for over 17 years.
DAMS will be implementing RealTime during the second half of 2008 and are confident to recoup the investment very quickly.

About DAMS International
Dams were founded and started business in 1967 as Dictating and Adding Machine Service from a Liverpool City Centre office by Barry Scott. It was noticed that along with having machines serviced, clients also bought office furniture, and soon DAMS were buying and selling furniture and equipment to rival their competitors.
During the late 1970’s and early 1980’s the manufacturing operation moved from Wales to Kirkby, Merseyside, and a decision was made to change the format of furniture supplied from fully built to flat pack.
The late 1990’s saw Dams add to their Merseyside sites with the purchase of the land and construction of a 155,000 sq ft warehouse which is one of the largest in the industry. Dams also expanded their operations, with the development of a network of Distribution Centres across the UK and Ireland and a purpose built showroom on Great Portland Street, London.
Dams International Ltd are now one of the top 4 office furniture companies in the UK with approximately 6% of the UK market share, and has grown from employing a handful of staff to nearly 600 employees and with a fleet of approximately 150 vehicles.
